Bei Sunn O))) wird Klang zur körperlichen Erfahrung. Die stilbildende US-amerikanische Drone- oder Doom-Metal-Band erlangte durch ihren exzessiven Umgang mit Drones, lang anhaltenden niederfrequenten Klängen, große Bekanntheit. Die Band verortet sich zwischen den ersten, westlichen Drone-Kompositionen des amerikanischen Komponisten La Monte Young und Heavy-Metal-Ästhetiken, die sie durch die exponierte Langsamkeit ihres Spiels unterwandern. Der Fokus auf extreme Bass-Frequenzen erzeugt eine außergewöhnlich körperliche Erfahrung für den Hörer. Die Musik von Sunn O))) ist mindestens genauso intensiv zu spüren wie zu hören. Ihre Konzerte sind bekannt für ihre rituell anmutenden Inszenierungen.
